DESCRIPTION
The Abstract Collection was Remoi’s first collection,
consisting of 15 works created one after the other, in 2019.
Remoi’s first drawings date back to childhood, and he created
several paintings during his youth. However, with this series of
paintings, after two years of experimentation, he learned how to
create the background for his works.
In 2018 and 2019, he completed this series using many
colors and various materials such as paper, sand, and whatever
he could find, applying them to the canvases. This is how he
discovered that the canvases became “alive”! He kept this
series raw and simple, hence abstract, although many of these
canvases have been given new life in other works. This style
is now the foundation/background of every work he creates,
and each has this living background. Remoi preserves these 15
works as memories.
The story behind this collection is that one day his mother
came to see his paintings and criticized him by saying, “But I
see nothing in this painting!” This deeply hurt him, but he had
to accept the constructive criticism, which shaped him and
continues to shape him. His mother meant she couldn’t see
“motifs” or anything recognizable, which made him reflect.
From that reflection, the One Line Collection was born, with
simple motifs that can be understood, read, and interpreted
even by a child. This simplicity left a lasting impression on him
